The Sun Hydraulics SQFBKNV (SQFBKNV) is a high-performance kickdown sequence valve designed for hydraulic systems requiring efficient flow management and pressure control. This valve is engineered to kick completely open and maintain an open state once the pressure at inlet port 1 surpasses the valve's preset threshold, allowing unrestricted flow from port 1 to port 2. Its operation is contingent upon the pressure at port 1 remaining above that of port 2; resetting necessitates a drop in pressure below the valve setting, cessation of flow between ports, and equal or greater pressure at port 2 compared to port 1. The SQFBKNV is part of a versatile range of three-port sequence cartridges that are interchangeable in terms of flow path and cavity dimensions for a given frame size. Notably, it should not be utilized in load-holding applications due to its design characteristics. The main stage orifice is safeguarded by a robust 150-micron stainless steel screen, ensuring durability and reliability under various operational conditions. With an impressive maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar), this valve is ideal for actuator-side applications where flow must halt to reset the valve. It features Sun's floating style construction, which minimizes internal binding risks due to installation torque or machining variations. The SQFBKNV supports a capacity of up to 30 gpm (120 L/min) with typical response times around 25 ms and minimal leakage rates. Installation requires specific torque settings: valve hex size is set at 1-1/8 inches (28.6 mm) with an installation torque of 45-50 lbf-ft (61-68 Nm). The adjustment mechanism allows up to five clockwise turns to increase settings, with internal hex and locknut sizes specified for precise adjustments. Weighing only .50 lb (.25 kg), this compact component incorporates Viton seal kits for enhanced durability in demanding environments.
Kick-down sequence valves will kick completely open and remain open once the pressure at the inlet (port 1) exceeds the valve setting, creating an unrestricted flow path from port 1 to port 2 (sequence). The pressure setting at port 1 is relative to the drain (port 3). The valve remains open as long as the pressure at port 1 exceeds the pressure at port 2. To reset the valve, pressure at port 1 must fall below the setting of the valve, flow from port 1 to port 2 must cease, and pressure at port 2 must be equal to or greater than the pressure at port 1.
- All 3 port sequence cartridges are physically and functionally interchangeable (i.e. same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size).
- Should not be used in load holding applications.
- The main stage orifice is protected by a 150 micron stainless steel screen.
- Pressure at port 3 is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio and should not exceed 5000 psi (350 bar).
- Intended for use on the actuator side of the system as flow through the valve must cease for the valve to reset. If used on the pump side of a system, pump flow must be shut off for the valve to reset.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
