The Sun Hydraulics RVGDKDV (RVGDKDV) is a ventable, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge with an external drain, designed as a normally closed pressure regulating valve. When the inlet port 1 pressure reaches the pre-set level, the valve opens to tank port 2, throttling flow to manage the pressure effectively. It features a vent port 3 for remote control via other pilot or 2-way valves and a drain port 4 that ensures insensitivity to back pressure. This model is known for its accuracy, low pressure rise versus flow characteristics, smooth operation, quiet performance, and moderate response speed. The RVGDKDV can handle maximum pressure at port 2 and is suitable for cross-port relief circuits, though spool leakage should be considered in such applications. The main stage orifice is safeguarded by a 150-micron stainless steel screen. However, it is not recommended for load holding applications due to spool leakage. Pressure at port 4 adds directly to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio but should not surpass 5000 psi (350 bar). The design incorporates Sun's floating style construction to reduce internal part binding risks caused by excessive installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining variations. This model fits into Cavity T-23A and belongs to Series 3 with a capacity of up to 60 gpm (240 L/min). Factory pressure settings are established at 4 gpm (15 L/min), with a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). Control pilot flow ranges from 15-20 in\u00b3/min (0.25-0.33 L/min), and typical response time is around 10 ms. Maximum valve leakage at standard conditions is rated at approximately 4 in\u00b3/min (65 cc/min) at 1000 psi (70 bar). The adjustment mechanism involves up to five clockwise turns to increase settings, with specific torque requirements for installation and adjustments detailed in product specifications.
Ventable, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridges with external drain are normally closed pressure regulating valves. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to regulate the pressure. They provide a vent port (port 3) that connects between the main piston and pilot stage to provide for remote control by other pilot or 2-way valves and a drain (port 4) that makes them insensitive to back pressure. These valves are accurate, have low pressure rise vs. flow, they are smooth and quiet, and are moderately fast.
- Will accept maximum pressure at port 2; suitable for use in cross port relief circuits. If used in cross port relief circuits, consider spool leakage.
- Main stage orifice is protected by a 150 micron stainless steel screen.
- Not suitable for use in load holding applications due to spool leakage.
- Pressure at port 4 is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio and should not exceed 5000 psi (350 bar).
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
