The Sun Hydraulics NFFCLHV (Material Number: NFFCLHV) is a highly versatile needle valve designed for precise flow regulation in hydraulic systems. This valve features an adjustable orifice that can be finely tuned from fully closed to the maximum orifice diameter, allowing for customized flow control. It is important to note that this valve is not pressure compensated, meaning the flow rate is influenced by the pressure differential across its ports. The NFFCLHV model offers bidirectional flow capability, with the preferred path being from port 1 to port 2 for compatibility with other flow controls. This needle valve is equipped with a balanced adjustment mechanism, ensuring ease of use even under high-pressure conditions, and its sharp-edged orifice design minimizes variations in flow due to changes in fluid viscosity. The valve's design ensures zero leakage when it is fully closed, making it an effective shutoff solution. It fits into a Cavity T-18A series 4 and has a capacity of up to 60 gallons per minute (240 liters per minute) at a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). For installation, the valve requires a torque range of 350 - 375 lbf ft (474 - 508 Nm), and its adjustment screw features an internal hex size of 5/32 inches (4 mm). Additionally, it comes with EPDM seals suitable for use with phosphate ester fluids but should be avoided in systems using petroleum-based substances. The NFFCLHV model weighs approximately 3 pounds (1.35 kg) and includes a Viton seal kit option for enhanced durability in various applications.

Needle valves are fully adjustable orifices used to regulate flow. They are infinitely adjustable from fully closed up to the maximum orifice diameter. They are not pressure compensated and may be used as flow controls or as shutoff valves.

  • All 2-port flow control cartridges are physically and functionally interchangeable (i.e. same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size). However, cartridge extension dimensions from the mounting surface may vary.
  • Because needle valves are non-compensating devices, the fixed orifice size will regulate flow through the valve in proportion to the square root of the pressure differential across ports 1 and 2.
  • A balanced adjustment mechanism allows for easy adjustment even at high pressures.
  • The sharp-edged orifice design minimizes flow variations due to viscosity changes.
  • The flow path through this valve is bi-directional. The preferred path is port 1 to 2, to allow interchangeability with other flow controls.
  • There is no leakage when the adjustment mechanism is turned to the shut-off position.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
